What is a Two-Stage Boiler Gas Burner?
A two-stage gas burner is a burner that can operate at two distinct firing rates: Low Fire and High Fire. Unlike a single-stage burner that is simply on or off, a two-stage burner can modulate its output to better match the heating demand of the building.
This is typically managed by the boiler's control system, which opens or closes a second gas valve and adjusts the combustion air (via a variable-speed blower) based on signals from an outdoor temperature sensor or the boiler's own aquastat.
